Recently, I was invited to deliver a couple of study days to different groups of foundation dentists. The day was focused around how positive communication can dramatically improve the quality of care that these young dentists deliver to their patients. I aimed to inspire the foundation dentists to go out and make the most of their careers, getting them excited about the opportunities that the dental profession offers.
I really enjoyed the experience and I think the participants did too. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive so I hope that some of my messages hit home.
“Very positive outlook on dentistry. I learnt how to treat patients and not teeth! I learnt to value myself.”
“Thank you Andrew! It was a very useful talk, definitely enjoyed learning from your experience in terms of discussing options and costs with patients. No one has explained it as well as you.”
Study day info
The day is a mix of short talks and group exercises. Participants are encouraged to think independently and reflect on how they currently interact with their patients.
I was the winner of Best Young Dentist in the UK at the Dentistry Awards 2017 and National Young Dentist of the Year at the Dental Awards 2018. I believe that I have a lot of unique insights that are hugely valuable to colleagues.
